OLATHE, Kan. - UPDATE, 1:23 p.m.: After nearly three hours, the final jury of 17 people have been sworn in for the Frazier Glenn Cross trial.
The jury includes 9 men and 8 women. All 17 of the jurors will be in the courtroom. The jurors, at this point, do not know if they will determine the verdict or be alternates.
It's an effort by the court to have all 17 pay attention to the trial as it unfolds.
Johnson County District Court Judge Kelly Ryan said the trial will begin at 9 a.m. Monday morning.
According to security officers at the court, more than 1,000 applications were sent out to Johnson County residents. This week, nearly 200 individuals were questioned by the prosecution and Cross, who is representing himself.
While the week was filled with emotions at times, there was nothing to note in terms of behavior from the defendant on Friday.
ORIGINAL STORY: The final step in selecting a jury for the Frazier Glenn Cross trial is under way in Olathe.
A pool of over 50 jurors is being considered to serve on the jury. Of the 50, 12 will be selected to be a part of the official jury. Another five will serve as alternatives. All 17 will be in the courtroom at the time the trial happens.
Friday's proceedings were delayed due to one juror being nearly an hour late due to a breakdown in communication with the court.

While the state wanted to begin the process, Cross was willing to wait the time, saying the potential juror had "the right credentials" to be on the jury.
Cross, also known as Glenn Miller, has admitted to killing three in the April 2014 shootings at the Jewish Community Center and Village Shalom in Overland Park.
Reat Underwood and his grandfather, William Corporon, were killed at the Jewish Community Center. Terri LaManno was murdered at the Village Shalom.
Opening statements are anticipated for the trial on Monday, Aug. 24.
